Edward Spalding was the first of the family of whom there are any records. He arrived from England in the earliest years of the Massachusetts Bay Colony; probably between 1630 and 1633. He first appears in Braintree, Mass. where his first wife, Margaret, and his daughter, Grace, died; and where his first son, Benjamin, was born. The children of his wife Margaret, were John, born about 1633; Edward, born about 1635; and Grace (birth date unknown). Grace was buried May, 1641. His wife Margaret died August, 1640. His children with Margaret were John, Edward, and Grace. Of his wife Rachel, named in his will, there were Benjamin, Joseph, Dinah, and Andrew. Edward Spalding died in Chelmsford, Mass. in 1670. This book details the descendants to the tenth generation.
