A rather complete account of the origin of the name in England is presented before the genealogy of the American immigrant, Joseph Bolles (1608-1678), Town Clerk of Wells, Maine, 1654-1664. His first born son was Thomas Bolles, who removed from Wells to New London, Connecticut upon the urging of Governor Winthrop about 1668. A detailed account of the murder in 1678 of Thomas' first wife and two of his children is presented in this book. Approx. six generations of descendants are presented in detail.
