William MOSELEY (c.1620 - bef.February, 1682/3) Some reaserchers think this William Moseley is a son of William Moseley the merchant of Delft, Holland who settled in Lower Norfolk County in 1649. However, there is nothing in known records to prove such a theory. He resided in Sittingbourne Parish, Old Rappahannock County by 1665. On 18 Oct 1670, he was granted 427 acres of land on the southside of the Rappa- hannock River on the branches of Ekepaw Creek, which he had probably oc- cupied earlier. On 16 Feb 1666, he was appointed a Justice of the County Court. He held the office at least through 1691. He also held the rank of Captain in the county militia. Either he or his son, William, or perhaps both, were appointed Land Surveyors for the county on 1 Jan 1683, and again on 4 July 1688.
