John MARSHALL, Sr.  (1545/1574 - 1666)

He arrived in Virginia in 1636; sponsored by Joane Bennett of Charles River
County. In a deed dated 13 Jan 1638, he purchased from John Valentine in 
Isle of Wight Co., "100 acres adjacent Everett Roberts and down the creek 
that leadeth to the church". He patented an additional 200 acres in the 
county in 1655, 120 acres of the patent were assigned by John Valentine, 
and 80 acres adjoined his own land.
