This book is a detailed accounting of the actions, encounters, skirmishes, and battles in which the 45th Virginia Infantry Regiment took part from its activation in 1861 until its disbandment in 1865. Included is a roster of the names of nearly 2,000 men who saw service with the regiment. In all cases, their rank and the company in which they served is stated. In many cases, even more detailed information about their service is recounted. There are brief biographical sketches on each of the field officers. Maps showing the placement of the regiment on the battlefield during the major encounters with the enemy are also included in the book.
